The thirty-seven practices of a bodhisattva

Anahata Centre 16 Fabrica de Chibrituri Street, Bucharest

The Venerable monk Jangchub Phuntsok will come again to Bucharest to teach further Tibetan Buddhist teachings based on the text The Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva. The Venerable Jangchub Phuntsok will share with us his understanding and experience of the teachings arising from this very well known text, which he teaches in many Rabten Centres in different countries, including Romania since 2011. About the Tibetan text The work entitled The Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva (rGyal sras lag len so bdun ma) is composed by the Tibetan master Gyelse Thokme Sangpo, who lived in the 14th century and was known as a very learned master and at the same time a great monk who spent years meditating in solitude. The text sets out in the form of thirty-seven exhortations, the gradual path to Rejoicing (lam rim) together with specific methods of cultivating the mind (lo jong), which are special instructions for the lessening and removal of self-centredness, self-worship and self-worship. These teachings come from the ancient Tibetan Buddhist Kadam tradition, founded by the Bengali master Atiśa Dīpaṃkākāraśrījīñāna, and are the quintessence of the teachings of all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.
